  The Nation's Capital
Photo: Jefferson Memorial
Our tour of DC was quick and covered the essentials – famous dead guys, war memorials, large monuments and grand buildings – but alas, not enough time to pop into museums. I got to visit Arlington Cemetery, which I have somehow missed in all of my previous trips.

The nicest thing about this leg of the trip is that we got to catch up with friends and relatives. We stayed with Pavel’s friend from college whom he hasn’t seen in years and I got to visit my aunt who just won her battle with cancer.

Pavel’s friend Julia had founded a very neat concept called GuidePod, which is an MP3 player filled with an audio guide of a particular destination – in our case Washington, DC. We took one around our little tour and found it very well done!

Photos: Lincoln Memorial; Arlington Cemetry; The White House; Korean Memorial (ever seen 'Team America'?)
