Athens reprise This time the meeting ended earlier than expected and I got to sneak out for 2 hours onto the Acropolis ("High City") where the Parthenon and a cluster of ancient buildings - now ruins - still stand. My favourite was the Erechtheum with it's beautiful Porch of Maidens.

In my attempt to walk down the hill and find a taxi, I ended up strolling through the old city area of Plaka with its narrow, winding streets. The best 2 hours after a meeting, especially given it was a beautifully sunny and warm day. What a treat!
